Signing android application

  • Keytool command that generates a private key:

d:> keytool -genkey -v -keystore my-release-key.keystore -alias alias_name -keyalg RSA -keysize 2048 -validity 18250

Reference:

18250 is days = 365 days X 50 years

  • Jarsigner to sign an application package called my_application.apk, using the example keystore created above.

d:> jarsigner -verbose -keystore my-release-key.keystore my_app.apk alias_name

  • To verify that your .apk is signed, you can use a command like this:

d:> jarsigner verify verbose certs my_application.apk
